Goalrilla and Goaliath hoops – how they differ and which to choose

At Hoop And Court, alongside our own Hoopair brand, you will find two globally recognised basketball brands: Goalrilla and Goaliath. Both come from the same manufacturer and stand for quality in their segments, but they target very different users. This article explains the differences and helps you match the right model to your court and style of play.

Goalrilla – for serious players

Goalrilla is a premium brand for athletes who train hard and expect pro-level performance from a home hoop. Goalrilla hoops are built for players who hang on the rim, dunk, and demand the same from equipment as from a pro court.

Goalrilla construction highlights:

  • heavy steel pole section 15 × 20 cm,
  • tempered glass backboards 183 × 107 cm (72") – full pro standard,
  • 1.27 cm glass thickness for strength and clarity like indoor pro boards,
  • spring-loaded breakaway rim – handles aggressive play and dunks,
  • 120 cm extension – full freedom under the backboard,
  • powder-coated steel – rust and UV resistance for years.

Goalrilla DC72E1 – flagship with Direct Connect technology

Goalrilla DC72E1 (18,999 PLN) is the top model at Hoop And Court. Its patented Direct Connect technology transfers vertical forces on dunks through a direct link to a steel beam, bypassing the backboard. The patented rim anchored in steel handles twice the force of glass-supported rims.

DC72E1 suits players at semi-pro level or above who want equipment that never becomes the weak link. Double-welded backboard arms, two steel stiffening blocks to reduce vibration, anchor kit in concrete with demount option. Backboard 183 × 107 cm, 1.27 cm tempered glass.

Goalrilla CV72 – Clear View technology

Goalrilla CV72 (15,399 PLN) is the newest Goalrilla model with innovative Clear View. Support arms meet the backboard edges instead of the centre – unobstructed view through the glass and a pro indoor look.

CV72 shares foundations with DC72E1: 15 × 20 cm pole, 183 × 107 cm tempered glass (1.27 cm), 120 cm extension, powder-coated steel. Height adjustment 230–305 cm. Kit includes breakaway rim, net, backboard and pole pads, and anchor system.

Goaliath – solid choice for families and recreation

Goaliath comes from the same manufacturing group as Goalrilla but targets a different buyer – families with children and recreational players who prioritise function and value over pro specs.

Goaliath hoops offer solid build, height adjustment, and good quality at a much lower price than Goalrilla. Polycarbonate backboards instead of tempered glass – lighter and impact-resistant, without the classic glass rebound feel and sound.

Goaliath Gotek 54 – versatile garden and indoor hoop

Goaliath Gotek 54 (4,299 PLN) is a fixed hoop with polycarbonate backboard 137 × 84 cm, 0.4 cm thick. Height adjustment 230–305 cm – full NBA and FIBA range. Pole diameter 8.89 cm, 63 cm extension, spring breakaway rim.

Suitable outdoors and in halls or garages. A strong pick for families who want solid play for children and occasional practice for adults without pro-level spend.

Hoopair – Hoop And Court’s own brand

Beyond Goalrilla and Goaliath, Hoop And Court offers Hoopair in three models:

  • Hoopair D54-F (5,999 PLN) – 137 × 91 cm glass backboard, adjustment 215–305 cm. Entry point for recreational courts.
  • Hoopair D60 (8,699 PLN) – 152 × 91 cm glass backboard, adjustment 165–305 cm, breakaway rim. Strong quality-to-price balance.
  • Hoopair D72 (9,899 PLN) – 183 × 107 cm glass backboard, adjustment 165–305 cm, 122 cm extension. Full-size board, pro rebound.

Hoopair D72 matches Goalrilla on backboard size – full 183 × 107 cm glass and 122 cm extension – at a much lower price. The gap is pole mass and anchoring, where Goalrilla clearly leads.

Accessories

  • Goalrilla Pad (1,499 PLN) – pole pad. Safety when playing close to the pole.
  • Goalrilla LED (2,299 PLN) – backboard lighting. Evening play without separate floodlights.
  • Goalrilla Yard Guard (1,599 PLN) / Goaliath Yard Guard (1,299 PLN) – ball containment nets behind the board.

Which hoop to choose

  • You train regularly and play aggressively – Goalrilla DC72E1 or CV72. Heavy steel, tempered glass, Direct Connect on DC72E1.
  • You want a full-size glass board on a sensible budget – Hoopair D72. 183 × 107 cm glass at nearly half the Goalrilla price.
  • Recreational play, hoop for the whole family – Hoopair D60 or Goaliath Gotek 54. Height adjustment, breakaway rim, solid quality.
  • Budget entry for children – Goaliath Gotek 54 (4,299 PLN) or Hoopair D54-F (5,999 PLN).

Remember: Goalrilla and Hoopair D72 need a concrete foundation poured with the court slab. Hoop placement is final – changing it later means breaking concrete. Decide at design stage, not after the pour.
